Ever wanted a particular job so bad that it eats into your soul
when your application is rejected?
Oh, I know how it feels. You become restless and cannot
concentrate. it actually feels like life has been taken out of your body.
Especially when you know you can actually be the best they can find and yet you
get rejected. Why does it hurt that much? It's because to be talented and not
have that talent exploited is devastating! You know, when you tune in to a
particular radio station and hear a presenter talk and deep inside you, you
know you would do way better than he/she is doing. But your talent is buried
inside and eats you up.
In this part of our world, this is so common. Many people are so
talented, but, how on earth can they be explored? There seems to be rejection
everywhere. Before you get to the top, you must know someone, who in turn knows
someone. This is causing most talented people to be wasted away. You don't even
get a chance to show what you are made of. Application letters are immediately
buried in a drawer without a chance given to the applicant to show what he/she
can do. It's sad and pathetic for a nation who wants to empower its young
generation.

Go into the Banks and hospitals and you will find marketers,
accountants, tellers and many others who’s first and only love was probably to
be a broadcaster or an actor/actress. Yes! Not every banker enjoys their 8 to 5
“well paid” job. They still hold on to a dream they know very well will never
come to pass just because none of their relatives owns or will ever own a media
outlet.
I’m some will say, “well, if nobody is ready to exploit your
talent, EXPLOIT yourself! Well, that is not a bad idea, come to think of it,
when you do, u get to call the shots. But, let’s be realistic here, is it that
easy to start something? Especially with sudden hike in taxes. At the end of
the day, you’re still going to need some money to keep you going, and that it
where your Bank job comes in handy.
Now we all know that the term 8 to 5 is just a façade, 6pm is
probably the earliest most Bankers leave their offices. Some wrap up the days’
work as late as 11pm, can you blame them? It comes with the job.
Ok back to my point (I think I’m deviating, lol), if you want to
combine, say your job as a Banker and also start up your own initiative, you
just might never get the time. Then you are back to square one, which is
sticking to the job you don’t like, but then it pays the bills so you don’t
have a choice.
After all said and done, this write up is not to scare anyone from
starting up their own business, it’s just a reality check. You need to consider
all the pros and cons before you get yourself involved in something you can’t
keep up. Since I couldn’t be on radio or TV, I decided to start up a blog and
write and hopefully through this blog I get to inspire somebody. So, don’t
start up something because everyone else is owning a beauty or fashion label,
do it because you know you are ready to handle all the complexities that will
eventually come up. You might not have the money, but start with the little and
keep trusting God! Don’t be surprised when it gets tough!
Above all else, Simply Be You. That’s all this blog
is about!
